In the coming days, the University of Prishtina and the University of Prizren will host significant educational workshops as part of the TKAEDiTE (Transforming the Kosovo and Albanian Education System by Introducing Digital Technology in Teacher Education) project. This initiative, aimed at modernizing teaching methods through the integration of digital tools, represents a progressive step in regional educational reform.

On November 5, 2024, the Faculty of Education’s STEAM Lab will welcome K1-9 pupils for an immersive day of learning and innovation. The Oulu Unviersity team will lead the participants through introductory activities, dividing them into groups and setting objectives for the day. The main challenge centers around designing a tool to foster reading among children, incorporating elements of 3D modeling and printing. Through focused ideation and prototype development, participants will gain hands-on experience in creative problem-solving. The event culminates at 1:00 PM with students presenting their prototypes, providing a platform for peer and mentor feedback.

On November 6, 2024, the focus shifts to educators, specifically K1-12 teachers, with sessions designed to promote inclusivity in STEAM education. The LNU team will then present on universal design and accessibility, emphasizing the importance of adapting teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning needs. Following this, teachers will collaborate on designing a curriculum that integrates inclusive practices and apply digital tools to identify and assess accessibility issues. The event concludes with a comprehensive wrap-up session at 1:00 PM, aimed at reinforcing key lessons and providing resources for continued professional development.

In parallel, November 6, 2024, in Prizren will see teachers from the K1-12 range gather at the University of Prizren for another set of workshops. Facilitated by the Oulu team and led by experts including Professor Jari Laru and Professor Liris Kivioja, the workshops will focus on the practical applications of STE(A)M methodologies.

Beginning with foundational training in graphical programming using mBots and 3D modeling, the sessions will advance to an exploration of the “Generation AI” project. This initiative, funded by Finland’s Strategic Research Science Council, will guide educators through using teachable machine tools to enhance classroom learning. The event will close at 2:30 PM with a reflective discussion, allowing participants to share insights and consolidate their understanding.

These workshops, part of the broader TKaEDiTE initiative, are poised to enrich the pedagogical landscape by equipping both pupils and educators with the skills and knowledge essential for a digitally integrated future
