Research Paper on Teachers’ Digital Competence in Kosovo Published in “Computers and Education Open”
We are delighted to announce that the research paper “Assessing Digital Competence of K1–12 Teachers in Kosovo: A Study through the Lens of DigCompEdu and TPACK” has been published in “Computers and Education Open”, a prestigious Q1 journal indexed in the Web of Science and ranked in the first quartile, with an Impact Factor of 12.3.
The publication is the result of the successful scientific collaboration established through the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project TKAEDiTE (Transforming Kosovo and Albanian Education System by Introducing Digital Technology in Teacher Education). The paper is a direct outcome of the close cooperation between researchers from Kosovo and the project’s Nordic partners, demonstrating the value of international collaboration in advancing research on digital education and teacher professional development.
The paper is authored by Krenare Pireva Nuci, Fisnik Dalipi, Italo Masiello, Ismail Celik, Jari Laru, Blerim Saqipi, Arsim Susuri, and Ali Shariq Imran.
The study provides a comprehensive assessment of the digital competence of K1–12 teachers in Kosovo by applying two internationally recognized frameworks: the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) and the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework. Through this dual perspective, the research examines educators’ preparedness to effectively integrate digital technologies into teaching and learning while identifying strengths and areas that require further professional development.
The findings contribute to the growing body of international research on digital education and provide evidence that can support educational institutions, policymakers, and teacher education providers in designing strategies to strengthen teachers’ digital competencies and promote meaningful technology integration in schools.
The acceptance and publication of this paper in “Computers and Education Open” represents a significant scientific achievement for the research team and further demonstrates the impact of the TKAEDiTE project in fostering high-quality international research partnerships. It also highlights the continued contribution of researchers from Kosovo, together with their Nordic and international collaborators, to advancing educational technology research and supporting the digital transformation of education.
